Red Cardinals

In the kingdom of Anabru, where Jakey was King, the cardinals were especially red.

Each morning, one sang his song to get me out of bed.

With feathers so crimson against the green of the tree,

the cardinal sang his little song to me.


"Get up! Get up! Get up! Get up!"


Over and over, he chirped his morning tune,

until he flew to the next house, none to soon.

As soon as he left, I could hear in my head,

that little ditty that got me out of bed.



"Get up! Get up! Get up! Get up!"
